“The City of Skopje will not, at any cost, turn off the public lighting of the streets and all sections that are under the city’s authority. In terms of savings, we started with a slightly different approach, we save wherever we can, but not to the detriment of the citizens. This means that the safety and security of the citizens must come first, says Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska in an interview with Kanal 5 TV.
Arsovska said that in the past period the city has been working on reforms and a large part of funds have been collected from savings from public procurement through electronic auctions, a serious amount of funds saved that has not been the case in the city until now.
“If you ask anyone who lives in Skopje if they want to walk in the evening in complete darkness, I’m sure they will tell you that they don’t want to walk in the dark because it makes them feel unsafe and insecure,” Skopje’s Mayor told Kanal 5 TV.
