The market testing of the interconnector with Greece will be finished on Monday, which paves the way for everything else, we hope that by the end of the year the contract for the construction will be signed, and by the middle of 2024 at the latest, we will have gas supply from Greece, said the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning of North Macedonia, Naser Nuredini, during the participation in the sixth energy forum for Southeast Europe (“Southeast Europe Energy Forum 2022”) in Thessaloniki.

Speaking at a panel discussion on energy cooperation, Nuredini said that North Macedonia wants to be gas independent, not to be dependent on Russian gas at all by 2024 at the latest, and that is why it is working on the interconnector with Greece and has invested in the liquid gas terminal in Alexandroupoli.
