In the third quarter of this year, i.e. in June, July and August, 3,166 new companies were opened, according to data from the BuznisMreza.mk platform. This is an excellent indicator of the growth of investment activity if you consider that 3,768 new companies were opened in the entire first half of 2022, which shows that more companies were opened in three months compared to the same period last year (the third quarter of the year), when almost twice as many companies were opened than now, that is, only 1,664 companies were opened then.
Unsurprisingly, most of the companies were opened in Skopje in the third quarter of 2022 – or 892 companies. Then comes Kumanovo with 198, then Tetovo with 192, Struga with 191 and Gostivar with 150 newly opened companies. Of course, crucial for this trend is that in 2021 investments were still under strong uncertainty due to the pandemic. This year, despite the energy crisis and inflationary movements, after the investment standstill, there is a significant growth of interest in opening new companies.
