Over 800 flu cases in the country in one week

Between January 23 and January 29, 2023, 874 cases of flu and flu-like illnesses were reported in the country, 23.0% less compared to the previous week, according to the Institute of Public Health. The number of registered people this week, compared to the 4th week of the last season, has increased by 3.5 times.

226 materials from the routine surveillance arrived at the virological laboratory of the IJZ for testing, tested in parallel for influenza and for COVID-19.

Of the reported patients, 131 people are over 65 years old, 110 are children aged 5-14 years of age and 108 are children aged 0-4 years of age, in which the highest incidence was registered. There are the most patients in Strumica – 197.
