Under strong police security, the Macedonian head of state laid flowers on the grave of Goce Delchev in the “Sveti Spas” church on Saturday. The celebration of the 151st anniversary of the birth of the Macedonian revolutionary was attended by President Stevo Pendarovski, a government delegation led by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, as well as a delegation of the Parliament as part of the state delegation.
The memorial service was held by the head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archdiocese Archbishop Stefan, who spoke about the work of the Macedonian revolutionary. After the memorial service, the Macedonian state delegation left.
No one was allowed to pass through Skopje’s Kale on Saturday who was not previously accredited, and it was not allowed to pass through the police cordon.
The event was assessed as a high security risk event and serious police security was noticeable on the ground.
