Bulgaria’s claims that there was systematic discrimination against the Bulgarian minority in N. Macedonia are unfounded, the Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe has decided.
According to the information of the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all Bulgarian amendments were rejected and the Resolution on National Minorities in N. Macedonia was adopted. They said there that this decision came from the team of independent experts who visited the country in November 2021.
“Among other things, the argument of the high majority of representatives is that such processes should not be excessively politicized and bilateralized, but they should be based on the spirit and principles of international law and standards, as well as the objective findings of independent experts that reflect the real situation “, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
