Religious leaders, experts and MPs agree: Ethics in Religion should continue to be studied, not abolished

Religious leaders, representatives of political parties, university professors, experts on religious education, at a round table on “Religion in education – experiences and challenges”, consensually decided that the subject Ethics in Religion must remain in the educational system with the same status as before , i.e. to be represented as a mandatory optional subject in the sixth grade, and not part of the four groups of freely optional subjects, which are proposed in the new Concept, the organizers Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Association of Professors of Ethics in Religions announced.
They stated that the subject Ethics in Religion must remain in the educational system with the same status as before, because the subject is taught by highly educated professors-specialists in the methodology of religious education, the specific character and content of the subject cannot be on the same level as the rest of the subjects. – elective subjects and the subject, both in terms of status and content, follows European trends in terms of religious education.
