“The Open Balkans initiative is an initiative that we have commented on in the past, we have no information about the essence of that initiative, but it must in no way be a substitute for full membership of our country, of Macedonia within the EU, the leader of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski pointed out during his visit to Ohrid on Saturday.
“Every regional initiative that means improving the quality of life, the standard of the citizens, VMRO-DPMNE as a political party is here to support it. Whether this is such an initiative, we do not know because we have literally no information so far. Nor do I think that the public knows anything related to this initiative, because if it is a quick exchange of capital, of goods, of services, of people, etc. Let’s say Serbia and Albania, how they border each other, bearing in mind that there is another dispute here, which I think is being discussed here in Ohrid today related to that dispute, and that is the Kosovo issue. So there are many things like this that the public does not know, which are related to this Open Balkans initiative. But that must not be and should not be a substitute for Macedonia’s full membership within the EU,” stressed Mickoski.
