The leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski says that the opposition party is willing to accept the Croatian model of the Constitution, according to which Macedonia will be a unitary state of the Macedonian people and all other minorities: Albanians, Turks, Roma, Serbs, etc.

“The Republic of Croatia is the national state of the Croatian people and the state of other minorities: Serbs, Czechs, Slovaks, Germans, Austrians, Hungarians, Ukrainians, Russians, Bosniaks, Slovenes, Macedonians, Bulgarians, Turks, Roma, Vlachs and others who are citizens and have equal rights with Croatian citizens and realization of the national first according to the democratic norms of the UN and countries in the free world”, the Croatian Constitution reads.

Earlier on Saturday, when asked to comment on the theses of the ruling SDSM and DUI that the constitutional amendments could be made following Croatia’s example, where the Constitution has a broad enumeration of ethnic communities, opposition leader Mickoski said that if that was the formula for success, such a constitutional amendment VMRO-DPMNE would immediately accept it.

“I don’t know if everyone would like to make the changes in accordance with the Croatian Constitution. I’m ready for that option, if that helps the country, that we have Macedonia declared as the state of one nation and its minorities. But let’s not have regrets later. VMRO-DPMNE is willing to accept this immediately,” Mickoski said.
