Montenegro with the highest, Macedonia with the lowest average salary in the Balkans

The Prime Minister of the caretaker government of Montenegro, DritanAbazovic, announced on Thursday that the statistical data show that the average salary in the country is the highest among the countries of the former common Yugoslav space in the Western Balkans, while at the same time in North Macedonia it is the lowest.

According to the calculations of the Montenegrin Bureau of Statistics, the average net salary for January 2023, expressed in euros, in Montenegro was 757 euros, followed by Serbia with 706 euros. According to this indicator, Bosnia and Herzegovina follows with 617, and N. Macedonia is at the bottom, whose citizens in the first month of the year received an average salary of 550 euros.
