Twenty-six million euros have been paid to 15,753 tobacco farmers, the Minister of Agriculture LjupchoNikolovski informed on Thursday, and the total value of purchased tobacco in 2022 reached six billion denars, and all tobacco farmers from all purchasing enterprises have been paid in full.
“The law on tobacco, for the regulation of contract production in 2018, today results in not a single denar of debt, to any tobacconist, from any purchasing company,” the minister pointed out.
He said that last year history was written both in terms of price and in terms of the quantity of tobacco purchased.
“For the first time, tobacco reached a record price of 290 denars, which is an increase of about 50 percent compared to 2021 and 300 percent since a few years ago,” Minister Nikolovski pointed out.
