At the annual session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), special attention was paid to the topic of the final resolution of the canonical status of the bishops of the Orthodox Ohrid Archdiocese, in the context of last year’s decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops to return to canonical status and establish a liturgical unity, as well as the subsequent decision on granting Tomos for autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archdiocese
“For this purpose, the Council made a decision to grant canonical release to the hierarchies of this autonomous church by the SOC and its integration into the Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church in accordance with the holy canons and constitutions of the two local Churches, as well as the previously reached agreement of the Synods on all three church structures”, reads the announcement of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC.
The Council was also attended by bishops of the Orthodox Ohrid Archdiocese, formed twenty years ago in unity with the SOC, which is still not recognized in N. Macedonia.
