Destatis estimates that Macedonia has the lowest prices in Europe, 51 percent lower prices than Germany


Macedonia is among the cheapest countries in Europe and is the record holder for low prices in many categories, according to Federal Statistical Office of Germany – Destatis. The prices of a large number of products and services in 40 European countries have been analyzed. As of March of this year,  Macedonia is partly more expensive than Turkey, and cheaper than all other countries on the European continent.

The prices of food, beverages, tobacco, clothing, energy, transportation costs, telecommunications, cultural life and entertainment, as well as hotels and restaurants are analyzed. In total, in all categories, the prices in Macedonia are at the level of 49% of the prices in Germany – or vice versa, they are 51% lower. It is generally cheaper only in Turkey where the price level is 39 percent lower than Germany’s prices.
