EBRD considers the possibility of a loan of EUR 175 million to Macedonia for finishing the railway construction to Bulgaria

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced that it is considering the possibility of approving a state loan of 175 million euros to the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure of North Macedonia for the completion of part of the European Railway Corridor VIII.
The funds will be allocated to the completion of the last section of the railway at the eastern end of Corridor VIII.
The loan will finance the construction, signaling and telecommunications from Kriva Palanka to the Bulgarian border in a total length of 23.4 km and the electrification of the entire eastern railway including sections 1, 2 and 3 in a total length of 88 km.
