The head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archdiocese (MOC-OA) Archbishop Stefan in a video address asked for support regarding the protest in front of the Cathedral on Thursday, June 29, against the adoption of the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Civil Registry.

“Each of us and all of us together have a sacred duty – what we have received and inherited from our ancestors, to continue and leave to the generations. By doing that, we ensure the future of our people, defending and guarding those benefits both to God and to our race,” Archbishop Stefan said on Monday.

MOC-OA announced that it is organizing the protest for dignity, freedom and protection of basic religious rights. The reason is the non-acceptance of the suggestions in the draft laws on birth records and gender equality.
