The Skopje-based Criminal Court sentenced Friday defendants Ismet Guri and Ejup Alimi to 3,5 years in prison each, in the case code-named “Titanic 3” over destruction of election materials.
The defendants received the same prison terms in the case that was retried, after the Appelate Court annulled the first-instance verdict in 2021.
The defendants, both members of DUI, were found guilty of destroying election materials during the 2013 local elections in Chair municipality. Guri was accused of altering the voting logs, whereas Alimi of taking actions towards destroying election materials.
