PPO to investigate why Deputy PM Grubi used the car that was set on fire when it was not formally his

The public prosecutor with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office – Skopje issued an order to provide the documentation on the method and time of acquisition, ownership and use of the vehicle that was set on fire on Saturday around 3:30 in the morning, and was claimed to be owned by the First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) announced on Sunday.

In his asset declaration, Grubi has reported that he owns a Citroen Xara worth EUR 1,000. On the other hand, Grubi’s party members confirmed in their statements that he regularly used the car that was set on fire Saturday.

The Prosecutor’s Office also pointed out that the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) is the competent authority that should record and monitor the asset status of the elected and appointed persons, as well as verify the data in their asset declarations.
