The Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) has already published a warning to citizens on its website, to be very cautious with food – where they eat, where they buy it, how they keep it and how they treat it before consuming it.
“Improper preparation can cause food contamination and increase the risk of foodborne illness. The five key steps promoted by the WHO and to which we must all adhere are: to pay attention to cleanliness, to separate the raw from the cooked, to heat it thoroughly during preparation, to store it properly and to use healthy water, as well as fresh food,” points out the FVA head Nikolche Babovski and adds “If you think the food is unsafe, don’t risk it and throw it out”.
