Due to the large difference in the imposed sentence, the Judicial Council announces that after the annual vacations, it will examine the case with the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Skopje, by which the 18-year prison sentence of the Basic Court -Veles for a traffic accident with fatal consequences was reduced to 8 years.
The Council urges the Supreme Court to ensure the equal application of the laws by the courts through the unification of judicial practice, especially for the crime of “serious crimes against the safety of people and property in traffic”.
The Council reminds that on several occasions it requested in writing from the Supreme Court, due to the inconsistency of the verdicts, to reconsider the penal policy, and after a previous analysis of the judicial practice.
