Yung people in Struga over the weekend collected waste from several beaches along the Ohrid Lake as part of the “Ecology, Part of Our Culture” project organized by the citizens’ association Nova Porta with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.
According to organizers, the project’s goal was raising awareness for environmental protection. The cleaned beaches were marked with flags as ecologically clean.
“The interest among young people to take part in the cleanup was high. Recently, cleanup drives have happened at multiple locations. We also organized ‘The lake is not a wastebasket’ drive using banners sending out ecological messages for protecting Lake Ohrid,”stated the organizers.
