Three Macedonian women aged 48, 60 and 66 were rescued Saturday afternoon from drowning on the Golem beach near Kavaja, on the Albanian coast.
According to the police, they were immediately given first aid by the tourists present on the beach, the coast guard and the police officers from Kavaja who were on duty at the coast.
“The three women were urgently transported to the Regional Hospital in Durres for medical assistance. The 48-year-old woman is out of danger, while the other two, aged 66 and 60, are in a more serious condition,” the police’s statement reads.
An average of 250 to 300 thousand Macedonian nationals vacation on the Albanian coast each year. This summer, the number is expected to be much higher.
