A bear and two cubs were killed on Wednesday in the village of Zhirovnica, Municipality of Mavrovo – Rostushe, said the director of the State Environmental Inspectorate, Sreten Stojkovski.
“Today we were shocked that a bear and two cubs were killed in the village of Zhirovnica. After reporting the Mavrovo National Park, the State Environmental Inspectorate approached the site,” said Stojkovski, who presented a report on the work of the Inspectorate for the period January-June this year at a press conference.
Bears in the country have been protected since 1996, and according to the Hunting Law passed in 2009, bear hunting is permanently prohibited.
