Bulgarian FM: We will do everything to prevent a resolution on N. Macedonia from being passed in the US Senate

The Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterMariya Gabriel on Friday before the members of the Bulgarian National Assembly, when asked about a proposed resolution in the US Senate to declare September as the month of Macedonian-American heritage in the US, she said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria will do everything to prevent it happened.

“The Bulgarian MFA took action from the first moment it learned about the submitted resolution, the ambassador and the consul general in Washington already talked to the team of the senator who proposed the resolution. The procedure in the Senate has started, but we will do everything possible to prevent it from being passed,” said Gabriel.

In July of this year, Indiana Republican Senator Mike Braun introduced a resolution in the US Senate to declare September 2023 Macedonian-American Heritage Month in the US, when the language, history and culture of Macedonian Americans will be celebrated.
