After it launched an investigation into the University Clinic for Radiotherapy and Oncology’s practices following media allegations that its staff were withholding life-saving medical care from cancer patients and reselling cancer drugs, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has been contacted by some ten individuals who wanted to provide information relevant to the case, the PPO said in a press release.

According to the release, given that the Primary Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje is “investigating a potential violation of the highest constitutionally guaranteed right to health care,” it will aim to provide “maximum transparency and accountability” regarding its Oncology Clinic probe.

“Based on the request of oncology patients at a meeting held on Sept. 7, the Prosecutor’s Office will today ask the informal organization through which patients presented their requests to nominate three oncology patients who would be privy to the evidence gathered during the entire procedure,” reads the press release.
