Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani posted on Facebook that the Skaik family of four had returned to the country after being safely evacuated from Gaza. Diplomatic efforts were now focused on evacuating a married couple who are Macedonian nationals. Their evacuation, said Osmani, was expected soon.
Evacuation from Gaza represents a special diplomatic and above all consular challenge, considering the complex security situation in that region,” FM Osmani said.
“I especially want to acknowledge the diplomats in our Cairo and Tel Aviv embassies, who were in constant contact with both the family and the authorities in Egypt and Israel,” said Osmani.
The top diplomat thanked the International Organization for Migration, which helped with their transfer to Skopje as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for organizing the accommodation.
