Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of November 5 – World Day of Romani Language, sent a message to the members of the Roma community in the Republic of N. Macedonia.
The Romani language is a significant part of the identity of the Roma people. It is a testimony to the history of the Roma community and contributes to the preservation of their unique culture, which with its characteristics enriches the overall cultural treasury in our country. On the World Day of the Romani Language, we highlight the importance of nurturing the Romani language as a guardian of tradition, folklore and culture. Showing the essence of the Roma way of life, their stories and their values, the Roma language provides a bridge to the diverse heritage of the Roma community. Support for the cultivation of the Romani language is important not only for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Romani community, but also represents a way to strengthen and enrich our multicultural society. The improvement of the overall educational process of Roma children and the provision of the appropriate conditions is of crucial importance for the further cultivation of the Roma language. In that direction, the commitments and dedication towards providing conditions for greater institutional support for the study, use and preservation of the Romani language are particularly significant. Happy November 5 – World Day of Romani Language,” said President Pendarovski.
