The mandate of the Judicial Council is to ensure a proper and transparent functioning of the country’s judiciary, unfortunately I can say that we have seen little evidence of the fulfillment of these sacred duties, said the United States Ambassador to Skopje Angela Aggeler, regarding the events in the Judicial Council.

In a statement for Alsat regarding the events in the Judicial Council and the actions taken by the body in terms of the political pressure on the Supreme Court, Aggeler said the citizens deserve better.

“The mandate of the Council is to ensure a proper and transparent functioning of the judiciary in this country. Unfortunately, I can say we have seen little evidence of the fulfillment of these sacred duties. The people in this country deserve better. I still haven’t seen the Appellate Court’s decision to dismiss the indictments in the ‘TNT’ case, but we will carefully examine it with the hopes that the decision will be transparent and in accordance with the law,” said the U.S. Ambassador.
