The trend of declining mental health among 15-year-old girls in the country is alarming, with more than a third feeling lonely, and as many as 21 percent seriously thinking about suicide. Among boys of the same age, 12 percent had a feeling of loneliness, and 10 percent have thought of taking their own life.

These are part of the national findings within the international HBSC study “Behaviors related to the health of school children between 11 and 15 years old”, which was made by the Center for Psychosocial and Crisis Action Malinska based in Skopje, in partnership with the Faculty of Philosophy at University “St. Cyril and Methodius” and the University of Tetovo, which were presented in Kochani on Friday.

The research in the study was done on a representative sample of 5,132 students who are almost equally distributed in age groups of 11, 13 and 15 years.
