About EUR 3.3 billion from the Budget to go public sector wages, pensions, social benefits and for the unemployed

A social budget where more than half of the money goes to public sector wages, pensions and social transfers. The Parliament announced the proposal for the expenditures from the state treasury for the coming year.

Of the projected 5.5 billion euros, almost 3.3 billion euros are planned for wages in the public sector and social transfers, which include pensions, social benefits, assistance for the unemployed, etc.

In the 2024 draft budget, funds are planned for the 78 percent increases in officials’ wages. Next year, about 15 million euros more than in 2023 will be spent for higher incomes of the ministers, the prime minister, the MPs, the president, the prosecutors, the judges, but also the directors.
