Corruption in higher education institutions destroys social values, through uncertainty in the application and consistency of standards and the weakening of institutions, which ultimately manifests itself in the decline of the quality of life, said the Macedonian Minister of Justice Krenar Lloga in his panel discussion on the topic “Corruption in Higher Education”.

The minister said the high perceptions of corruption in higher education are overwhelming and that the forms of corruption can be different, from active and passive bribery, to influence peddling, abuses in public procurement, practices of nepotism and cronyism.

Lloga said that the academic community itself should clean up its ranks and preserve its integrity and reputation and that we need a register of diplomas so that there are no abuses and corruption.
