Amendment debate on 2024 Draft-Budget begins

The consideration of amendments to the Budget for 2024 has begun in the Parliament Committee on Financing and Budget, after the general investigation has ended.

A total of 272 amendments have been submitted for the proposed budget by authorized proposers, of which 250 were submitted by the MPs of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition.

After the amendment debate is over, the draft budget should be adopted at a plenary session. According to the established deadlines, the Budget for the coming year should be adopted in the Parliament by December 31 at the latest.

The draft-budget for next year weighs 5.5 billion euros. The total revenues in 2024 are planned at the level of 310.1 billion denars and they are 10 percent higher compared to 2023, while the expenditures are planned at the level of 343.6 billion denars or about 5.8 percent higher compared to in 2023.

MKD 41.2 billion are projected for salaries, MKD 25.3 billion are planned for goods and services, MKD 215.3 billion for current transfers and subsidies. MKD 161.1 billion are planned for social transfers, of which MKD 83.6 billion are for the payment of pensions, and about MKD  13.2 billion are for social protection benefits for the most vulnerable segments of the population.

Economic growth is projected at a level of 3.4 percent, and inflation at a level of up to 3.6 percent.
