The current Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi thanked DUI for his nomination to be the Prime Minister of the caretaker government, 100 days before the holding of the parliamentary elections next year, and assures that he will do his job with respect and responsibility.
According to the agreement reached at the leaders’ meeting on December 4, parliamentary elections should be held on May 8, 2024. On the same day, voting will take place in the second round of presidential elections, while the first round for the election of the head of state should be held on April 24.
The caretaker government led by Xhaferi should take office on January 28, and a month later the Parliament should call for elections. The opposition VMRO-DPMNE is expected to be represented in Xhaferi’s government cabinet with ministers of interior and labor and social policy, as well as three deputies (for finance, for agriculture and for information society and administration).
