Emigration is key to the demographic future, and the results of the calculations are already outlined in a document. The State Statistics Office (SSO) prepared projections for the population of Macedonia until 2070. The SSO says that the purpose of the projections is for the authorities to open their eyes and implement strategies based on data.
“The results of the analyzed data from the population projections indicate that in the foreseeable future it is difficult to expect an improvement in the demographic situation if we do not intervene with appropriate solutions,” the SSO informed.
One of the key indicators is the average number of about 12 thousand people who migrate annually. The country will have to import labor, and the best scenario for the demographic future is to integrate into the European Union a decade from now.
