The past year saw a decrease in the number of marriages and divorces. According to the State Statistics Office (SSO), a total of 12,882 marriages were concluded in the country, which is 3.4 percent less than the previous year.
The most common is the first marriage with a participation of 93.7 percent for women and 93.2 percent for men. In a second marriage with a participation of 6.3 percent and a third marriage with a participation of 0.5 percent, in the total number of marriages, men hold a higher percentage.
The largest number of marriages, 4,263 or 33.1 percent among women and 4,721 marriages or 36.6 percent among men, occurred in the age group of 25 to 29 years.
And the number of divorces last year decreased by 17.9 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 1,613 divorced marriages.
Statistics show that by age, the highest number of divorces 298 or 18.5 percent among women and 281 divorces or 17.4 percent among men occurred in the same age group of 30 to 34 years.
According to the duration of the marriage, most divorces 360 or 22.3 percent occurred from five to nine years after the conclusion of the marriage.
