Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski stated that the case with the police seizing a large quantity of pyrotechnics in the vehicle of the nephew of his coalition partner Ali Ahmeti, Drin Ahmeti, was processed in the Public Prosecutor’s Office as it would be for any other citizen.
“My position is the same as that of the institutions, that it is a matter of regular inspection of any identified person who imported pyrotechnic means. The entire case was then handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office, just like it would be if it were any other citizen in question,” said Kovachevski.
On December 30,2023, at 7:50 p.m., on Samuilova street in Skopje, police officers stopped a Range Rover passenger motor vehicle with Albanian license plates, driven by 25-year-old Drin Ahmeti. During the inspection of the vehicle, 749 pyrotechnic devices were found. The person was detained at the police station and after documenting the case, an appropriate report will be submitted, the Ministry of Interior informed the next day.
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje, regarding the found pyrotechnic devices, announced that it will decide on its next steps after their expertise is completed.
