At the end of the third quarter of 2023, gross external debt amounted to 11,072 million euros (or 78.3% of the projected GDP for 2023) and recorded a quarterly decrease of 323 million euros, while gross external claims decreased by 155 million euros and amounted to 6,918 million euros (or 48.9% of projected GDP), informed the Macedonian National Bank on Thursday.
The greater quarterly reduction of liabilities in relation to claims led to a reduction of the net external debt by 168 million euros, so that at the end of September 2023 it amounts to 4,154 million euros (or 29.4% of the projected GDP). At the same time, the reduction of the net external debt in the third quarter results from the reduction of the private net debt by 128 million euros and the public net debt by 40 million euros.
