The ambassador of the United States of America to Skopje, Angela Aggeler, told Radio Free Europe that she will not comment on proposed legal solutions, but welcomes and strongly supports all efforts to investigate alleged corrupt criminal activities.
“We hold responsible those who abuse public trust for personal gain. I assume that institutional and legislative reforms that will increase transparency and strengthen the fight against corruption will be welcomed not only by the international community, but also by all the citizens of North Macedonia,” Ambassador Aggeler told Radio Free Europe.
This comment came after the government’s announcement of a proposal for legal amendments to the Law on Restrictive Measures, which will sanction Macedonian nationals and companies that ended up on the US and UK blacklists.
