Macedonian Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska informed at a press conference on Thursday that all the necessary documents for the Universal Hall in Skopje have been collected and the contractor will start work as soon as next week.
“We went through an interesting period for the handover of the documentation to the Universal Hall. No one expected that we would ask for the complete documentation to be handed over to us because the Ministry of Culture also has deadlines,” Kostadinovska-Stojchevska said in response to a reporter’s question.
She pointed out that the contract for the bank guarantee still needs to be signed and the contractor should start the reconstruction as soon as next week.
“We have the funds, we secured it and completed all the necessary procedures and it is high time to start the work there. But it never occurred to me, nor to the citizens, that for a project like this, which really should not be the subject of any kind of dispute, we would have to ask for complete documentation,” the minister added.
