The basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, after the criminal charges were submitted by the Ministry of Interior, opened an investigation against 10 people for drug trafficking. On Saturday, as part of a coordinated police operation under the code name “Chibuk”, searches were carried out at several locations in Strumica, Gevgelija, Demir Kapija, Struga, the State Prilep Prison and its surrounding area. Eight people were detained and 13 white bags with almost 100 kilograms of marijuana were found.
In the period from October 2023 to March 2024, the suspects procured and sold a large amount of marijuana that was illegally procured from legal entities from Strumica and Demir Kapija, from Albania, as well as from a legal entity with the activity of growing spicy, aromatic and medicinal plants and plants for use from Strumica.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested detention for the eight suspects. The other two suspects are serving their sentence in the Prilep prison from where they committed the crime of which they are charged.
