A man convicted of domestic violence received custody of a three-year-old child in a divorce proceeding, due to which the mother N.S. is extremely worried by the decision of the OhridBasic Court, made on February 6 of this year.
The mother fears for the safety of her child and believes that the court did not make an adequate assessment of the risks that would lead to potential harmful consequences for the child, because her ex-husband was aggressive and there was already a final court verdict against him for domestic violence.
This is another example that in the country there are no strong judicial institutions that in such cases truly assess the risk when granting custody, first of all, for the safety of the mother and the child.
