With a series of events dedicated to the economic, political and social struggle for women’s equality, today marks International Women’s Day – March 8. Although there has been progress, women are still not equal to men, which is shown by the data that the percentage of women in managerial positions is lower, and the work of men and women for the same job is valued differently.
In North Macedonia, according to data published on the official Facebook page of the State Statistics Office, in the third quarter of 2023, in the total number of employed persons aged 15 to 64, men (56.2%) are more represented than women ( 43.8%). Women are most represented as nurses, seamstresses, accountants, teachers, economists, salespersons and legal representatives. They are less represented in working positions such as waitresses (11.9%) and traffic police officers (16.8%).
