Eleven new cases of Pertussis in just one day and night have been confirmed by the Center for Public Health (CPH) Skopje. The largest number of newly infected are school children with incomplete vaccination status. A 48-year-old man with confirmed pertussis has an unknown vaccination status. The total number of confirmed cases in Skopje rose to 158. Four children with confirmed pertussis were hospitalized in the Kozle children’s clinic.

A month after declaring a whooping cough epidemic in the capital and the recommendations given by the Commission on Infectious Diseases to ban the admission of unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children to kindergartens, we are still waiting for this decision to come into force.
