I expect that we will also receive a tomos from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, but if there are conditions tied to that tomos, it will not be acceptable for us, pointed out the Metropolitan of Prespa-Pelagonia and Administrator Australia-New Zealand Bishop Petar in an interview with “Studio 10” on TV 24.
He explained several current issues related to the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archdiocese, especially regarding the decision to form a commission to study the status of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which received a tomos of autocephaly from the Patriarchate of Constantinople, and the same commission will also study it the problem of naming ours with the Hellenophone churches.
“If the Patriarchate of Constantinople wants to give us a tomos, and I want to give us a tomos as soon as possible, but it should be without conditions, otherwise such a tomos would not be acceptable to us. We should point out that this cannot be accepted by the clergy, bishops and believers from our church, we have all declared that, in the full composition of the synod, including the bishops from the former POA. Unison, single-minded and unanimous is the position, discussed in three sessions that we do not give up the name Macedonian Orthodox Church, the only thing we allow is a double formula,” says the Metropolitan of Prespa-Pelagonia and administrator of Australia-New Zealand.
