The opposition VMRO-DPMNE demands that the Government stop the procurement worth250 million euros for transport helicopters during the election period, saying that “it is beyond any normal operation for SDSM and DUI to carry out a selection of a tender of 250 million euros a few weeks before elections, during a caretaker government”.
“Instead of combat helicopters, the government procures transport helicopters, which does not increase the combat readiness of the ARM. Additionally, no one knows how the Leonardo company was chosen, and why other companies, including an American company or a German-French consortium, were not chosen. How was the selection made and who made the decision on what to actually purchase. Instead of spending 250 million euros before elections, the procurement should be stopped and the future government should decide after it,” reads the opposition’s press release.
