SDSM succeeded with correct policies to install over 600 megawatts of renewable energy sources, said the leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia – SDSM Dimitar Kovachevski in an interview with the daily news outlet Sloboden Pechat.
“When the Government that I led started working, we immediately made legal changes in the area of implementing renewable energy sources. In the past it was very difficult to make for example a solar plant and put it on the grid because I say those laws used to be made by traders who were more interested in trading electricity than generating electricity. With those legal amendments and amendments to the regulations, today we managed to provide 600 megawatts of renewable energy sources, which were built only for the two years of the mandate of the Government that I led. Until 2016, only 16 megawatts of renewable energy sources were installed, now in just 2 years 600 megawatts,” said Kovachevski.
