Over 3 million passengers transited at the Skopje and Ohrid airports in 2023

An increase of 33 percent in passenger traffic was registered by the two Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and St. Apostle Pavle Ohrid, in 2023 compared to 2022. Last year’s number of passengers exceeded the record of 2019, when 2.7 million were served through the two airports. Last year, 24 thousand flights were registered to 46 destinations at the Skopje Airport, four at the Ohrid and additional seasonal airlines in the summer season, or a total of 3.15 million passengers. Macedonian air traffic has the second highest growth in transportation in Europe in 2023 compared to 2022. Over 250 thousand aviation operations are recorded in 2023.

According to the 2023 statistics, the most traveled to Istanbul (the two airports IGA and Sabiha Gokcen with 10.9% market share), Basel Mulhouse (6.4%), Zurich (5.4%), Frankfurt (4.7%) , Dortmund (4.5%), Vienna (4.4%), Munich Memmingen (4.3%), Antalya (3.2%), Hamburg and Cologne (2.7% each). The top 5 countries with direct flights for 2023 were Germany (28.3% market share); Turkey (16.1%); Switzerland (13.4%); Sweden (6.5%); and Italy (6.4%).
