Industrial production dropped by 10.4 percent in March 2024 compared to March 2023. Production in the first quarter of 2024 dropped by 3.1 percent compared to Q1 of 2023, according to data published by the State Statistical Office on Tuesday.
By sectors, the industrial in the Mining and Quarrying sector in March 2024, compared to March 2023, recorded an increase of 1.9 percent, and a decrease in the Manufacturing industry of 7.6 percent, and in the Electricity Supply sector , gas, steam and air conditioning, down 38.6 percent.
The decrease in the Manufacturing industry sector is the result, above all, of the reduced production in the following departments: Production of food products, Production of tobacco products, Production of clothing, Production of paper and paper products, Printing and production of recorded media (records), Production of chemicals and chemical products, Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, Manufacture of metals, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment and Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers.
