I hope the things that could be heard during the campaign won’t be the official position of the new Government of North Macedonia after the elections, because we will have issues if this happens, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in an interview for Greece’s Alpha TV.
The same applies now to the new leadership of North Macedonia. I hope the things that could be heard during the campaign won’t be the official position of the new Government of North Macedonia after the elections, because we will have issues if this happens,” Mitsotakis said, commenting on the fact that VMRO-DPMNE used the old name Macedonia in the campaign slogan.
The Greek PM noted that he was following the statements of VMRO-DPMNE’s officials with concern, but also that he is awaiting the official position of the new Prime Minister of North Macedonia with great interest to see the manner in which he will refer to the name of his country.
Mitsotakis clarified that he too disagreed with the Prespa Agreement while he was in opposition but stressed that now he must respect the Agreement and the same should be done by North Macedonia’s new government.
