Verdict on Tetovo modular hospital fire overturned, case goes to retrial

The former directors of the hospital in Tetovo, Florin Besimi and Artan Etemi, will again be tried for the case of the modular hospital fire during the pandemic, on September 8, 2021, in which 14 people lost their lives. The Gostivar Appellate Court partially annulled the first-instance verdict and the case will go to a retrial. On the other hand, the Appeal confirmed the acquittal for the doctor Boban Vuchevski, who was on duty on the critical night.
The verdict of the Tetovo Basic Court, passed on June 5 2023 for the fire in the modular hospital in which 14 people were killed, the accused Florin Besimi and Artan Etemi were sentenced to a suspended sentence of 18 months.
