Criminal charges filed against PIOM employees for damaging the Fund by EUR 615,000

The Corruption Unit with the Department for Suppressing Organized and Serious Crimes filed criminal charges against D.B. (45) from Tetovo to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of “abuse of procedure” for a public call, awarding of a contract for public procurement or public-private partnership” and “abuse of office and authority” and against R.B. (72) and A.H. (40) from Tetovo, due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion of a committed crime “aiding and abetting” under Article 24 in relation to the crime of “abuse of a procedure for a public call, awarding a contract for public procurement or public-private partnership” under Article 275-c and “abuse of office and authority” under Article 353 of the Criminal Code.

Suspect D.B., in his capacity as the acting director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of the Republic of North Macedonia – PIOM, published a call for interest in the lease of office space for the needs of the Fund in two daily newspapers on 22.02.2023.

The suspects to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund caused damage to the Fund in the amount of 37,852,275 Macedonian denars or 614,484 euros from the RNM Budget.
